What is your dream? What goals are you trying to achieve this 2018?
I have always wanted to be a stay-home Mum. It was a dream of mine, and while I knew it wouldn’t be easy, I was convicted that the pros outweighed the cons. So my dear husband wisely worked out a financial plan that would allow me to stay home comfortably, and I’m very grateful for his prudence and wisdom.

When Erin shared about this book, I was excited because I’ve benefited from her sharing about the frugal and wise management of her life through her blog. I knew this book would contain lots of tips on how to stay home with your kids, and I was right.
How to Stay Home with Your Kids
This book is divided into these chapters:
- Curb Spending
- Eat Well on a Budget
- DIY Household Products
- Entertain Your Family without Spending a Fortune
- Shop Secondhand and Sales
- Provide for Health-care Needs
- Hunt Houses and Vehicles
- Create more Income
One of my challenge as a health-conscious Mum is eating well on a budget. Good quality, organic, fresh foods cost a lot! So I was glad to learn new ways to save while still providing healthy, nourishing foods for my family.
One tip I’m committed to making is Erin’s suggestion of keeping a price book, so you get to compare prices between supermarkets. I used to do this but struggled to do it consistently, so I’m going to get back on track! Every little bit of savings will add up.
While the sections on health-care needs, houses and vehicles will be more useful to those living in the States, anyone can benefit from the variety of tips and tricks in this beautifully-written book. In fact, there are 100 tips and tricks on how you can learn to save more so you can stay home with your kids! There are action steps after each tip too, which makes this very much like a workbook to work through.
Looking forward to trying this out:
We are called to be wise stewards of our resources, and this book is a wonderful gift filled with creative ideas that will help you learn how to afford to stay home with your kids or even, to meet your specific financial goals.
