I’ve had a very long month (ironic, considering it’s the shortest month of the year), solo-parenting and potty-training for most of it. For the first week, I was really tired, impatient, and exasperated very easily. It was not a pretty sight, and while I’m not proud of it, it was what it was.
Motherhood can be so exhausting and discouraging. Add to that the usual demands of life, and you’ll get one big messy Mama who is just trying to juggle all the balls in the air and not let any drop.
But of course, they dropped.
In fact, I had to learn to quickly let go of the non-essentials so that I had hands that were free and could breathe better again.

In seasons like that, I rely heavily on the principles from books like “Say Goodbye to Survival Mode” by Crystal Paine. Working through the mini-course I created for overwhelmed Mums – Space for the Mama’s Heart to Rest – helped too. Sometimes, I find the words I type are really for my own heart. 😉
If you find yourself in a place of feeling overwhelmed, I hope these resources help get you out of that funk. Run to Jesus, and let your heart rest again.
One of the first steps to getting out of stress and overwhelm is to be aware and acknowledge that we are stressed and overwhelmed, and choose not to stay there. Your children desire a Mum who is emotionally and physically healthy, for they care for you too!
A few more resources that I highly recommend if you’re feeling weary and discouraged are the books from Sally Clarkson (The Mission of Motherhood & The Lifegiving Home) as well as the 2017 Homemaking Ministries Conference!
Sally Clarkson’s books are so encouraging and filled with inspiration to model after, I never get sick of reading her words. It has helped me shed light on my purpose as a Mum and given me motivation on those long, hard days when self-doubt creeps in.
The Homemaking Ministries Conference is my yearly must-have boost for homemaking! Filled with a ton of excellent speakers who share their own mothering experiences, I always leave each conference session renewed and recharged. 2017’s focus was on finding joy in our homes, and I can’t wait to watch this year’s (hint: happening sometime this September!)
Lastly, I’m VERY excited about sharing this free eKit with you, called “5 Ways to Enjoy the Word”! In this eKit, you get a training video, PDF guide, 2 Scripture art-prints & 2 bookmarks – all catered to teaching and inspiring you to get deeper into God’s Word!
This freebie just launched and I signed up for it immediately! I really desire to go deeper into God’s Word and I hope you’ll join me!
We set the tone and atmosphere in our homes, Mama. Let us provide the care and stability that our children crave by first leaning on Jesus, our Rock. His peace that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and minds in Christ Jesus, and grant us the grace to fulfill our daily responsibilities with unconditional love and a nurturing, patient, joy-filled spirit.
