6 months old routine
My mornings start out with peeking into Ellie’s bedroom, where she’ll usually be either still asleep, or fussing for us, or just sitting up talking to herself. Yesterday, it was the latter. Which is always a good start to the day!
I would bring her out for her feed, which now involves solids (her current favorite is avocados, much to the dismay of her meat-lover Papa 😝). Then it’s playtime! Bren would play and read with her while I prepare her bath water. Her 6 months old routine is pretty simple and straightforward.
Her nap time (she takes 3 in the daytime now) is when I’ll shower, pump, and cook. On some days – especially if she’s sleeping poorly – it can be quite a mad rush, though I do like the sense of accomplishment. 🙂
We recently bought a playpen (so easy to set up!), and it has been very useful when I’m alone with her. I do some chores or fold the laundry beside her, and I have the peace of mind to know she’s safe.
Made French Toasts for lunch! Yum.
In the afternoon…
Every afternoon – if weather permits and she has had 2 good naps – we have our outing time. I love planning where to bring her, and even if it’s only to nearby places, it’s a time I treasure.
We went to Starbucks yesterday because of their 1-for-1 Frappucino deal. 😋 (Tuesdays to Thursdays, 2-4pm if you didn’t already know!) A little surprise for Bren since he likes their caramel frappe. When I saw the long queue, I was a little hesitant but decided to go ahead anyway. Thank God that Ellie was calm throughout, just looking curiously at the crowds. 🙂
One of my favorite parts of the 6 months old routine has to be the quiet play, where we’ll just chill out on the master bed in the evening – me listening to my podcast, and her playing on her own. It’s a restful way to end the day before tucking her for bedtime.
After that, I freshen her up, give her the last feed, we read a short story, and then it’s nighty-night time!
Lastly, dinner prep! We had pizza last night.
Bren and I would catch up on each other’s day over dinner and occasionally order in dessert if we’re up to it. 😉 And that’s how a typical day looks like for me!
Even though it can get a little mundane on some days, I try to remind myself to put love into everything I do. Everything turns out better when there’s that secret ingredient, doesn’t it? 🙂
